What a short break changes
Pooled effects favored vigor and reduced fatigue. The overall performance effect was not statistically significant.
Five minutes of structured breathing
Exhalation-focused cyclic sighing produced greater positive-affect improvement and lower respiratory rate than mindfulness meditation.
Breathing practice over eight weeks
Training was associated with changes in sustained attention, negative affect, and salivary cortisol.
Preferred music and task focus
Participants reported more task-focused states with preferred music. Reaction-time performance did not improve significantly.
Brief switches during a long task
Occasional recall interruptions prevented the vigilance decline observed when recall was left until the end.
Attention training across five days
Integrative body–mind training improved executive attention and several self-regulation measures relative to relaxation training.
A result needs its context.
Different tasks, participants, and protocols answer different questions. We show published numbers only where the original source supports them. Missing values stay missing.
