Control motion, sound, and privacy
Movement, sound, and session timers need controls you can find.
An immersive world can be lovely to spend time in. The same movement or sound can also be distracting, uncomfortable, or simply wrong for the moment. A quiet experience should make its controls easy to find. That is why DevPause gives you choices about movement, sound, session timing, and what gets saved.
Movement is a choice
The world has a Still control beside the sound and settings controls. You can pause the background without ending your session. The site also checks the device’s reduced-motion preference and limits background movement when that preference is present. W3C’s guidance on moving content and interaction animation explains why these choices matter. A scene should remain useful when its movement is reduced.
Control the soundtrack
The soundtrack attempts to open automatically when your browser permits it. If playback is blocked, the first interaction or the sound button starts it, and the settings panel lets you adjust the volume. Turning it off does not close the world or stop the timer. The music is composed and generated in your browser, with selectable keys, pulse, and drift arrangements. There is no need to accept an unexpected soundtrack just to use the focus controls.
A timer marks time, not attention
An active session continues when you change tabs. Pause stops the accumulation of session time, and Continue starts it again. End Session lets you leave before the planned duration. These controls keep the timer understandable. They do not make claims about how present, productive, or calm you were during those minutes.
Private writing stays local
Your intention and reflection belong to the device where you wrote them. The server only needs the session’s world, mode, duration, and state to save the timing record. The Share action leaves your personal text out of the shared result. A World Pass key is a credential for paid access, so it is displayed privately on the receipt and should be kept somewhere safe.
The world can be simpler and still work
On a browser without the needed graphics support, the timer and session controls remain available. You can still begin a session, pause it, and keep a completed moment. The timer records the session time independently of the graphics. The richer scene is there to make that time pleasant, not to make the basic experience depend on a particular device.
